Cassie

Cassie, CVT

Cassie graduated from North Park University with a Bachelor of Biology in 2004 before joining our team.  After discovering a passion for working with animals she returned to study and received her CVT from Joliet Junior College in 2008.

Cassie's family include a Labrador cross named Hunter and a cat named Tread (a stray that was hit by a car and found a home with Cassie).  When she is not at work you can find her horseback riding, baking and chasing after her kids.

Sam, CVT

Sam has been working in the Veterinary field since 2012.  She obtained her AAS degree in Veterinary Technology and became certified in 2015.  Sam joined Sugar Grove Animal Hospital in 2017.

Sam's family includes a Dachshund named Nellie, a Pug cross named Franco, a Chow Dalmation cross named Riley, an Aussie cross named Horton and two cats; Sabrina and Lettie.

In her free time Sam enjoys winery tours, going on road trips and spending time with friends, family and her pets.

Kerstin

Kerstin

Kerstin attended Harrison College in Indiana where she completed the Veterinary Technician program.  Upon completion she began working in the veterinary field and joined our team in 2018.  

When not at work Kerstin enjoys being with her husband and two children, spending time with her church family, and outdoor activities.

Kerstin's family has always owned German Shepherds and one day they plan to adopt their own.

Kaylyn, CVT

Kaylyn started in the veterinary field in 2012.  To improve her career opportunities she went back to school and graduated in 2018 with a Veterinary Technology Degree and Certification from Joliet Junior College and Rockford Career College.  Kaylyn joined our team shortly after she graduated.

Kaylyn's family includes a Lab cross named Hershey and a Chihuahua cross named Izzy.  She enjoys spending time with her friends, family and her dogs.

Maddie

Maddie

Maddie completed the Veterinary Assistant Program at College of DuPage. She joined our team in 2019.

Maddy's family include a Beagle - Blue Heeler cross named Stormy, a Shepherd mix named Russo and two cats; Zoe and Honey. 

When she is not working Maddie enjoys sewing, reading, gardening, cooking and spending time with her pets.

Sam

Sam has an Associates Degree in Biology and started working the veterinary field in 2018.  

Sam's family includes two dogs - Piper and Scarlett.

Sam hobbies include line dancing and any outdoor activity.

Brynn

Brynn

Brynn completed her education at Kaneland and Waubonsee before starting in the veterinary industry in 2017.  She joined our team in 2021.  Brynn's family includes Zoey, a Boxer Cross and a 120 gallon freshwater aquarium full of fish and other critters.  Outside of work Brynn is an avid sports fan and enjoys fishing, cooking and reading.

Angie

Angie is currently enrolled in the Penn Foster online Veterinary Technician program.  Angie has worked in the veterinary industry since 2021 and she joined the Sugar Grove Animal Hospital team in 2023.

​Angie has a German Shepard mix named Zac as well as fish, ducks and chickens.

Her hobbies include crafting, boating and any outdoor activities.

KellyR

Kelly 

Kelly is hoping to get in to Vet school in the fall of 2026 and joined our team in December of 2023. 

Her furry babies include three yellow labs: - Roxie, Sadie and Lanie; a black lab named Gus and a Shih tzu Poodle named Maya.

In her free time, Kelly likes painting, arts and crafts and playing with her furry babies.

Sam 

Sam received an Associates in Arts at Waubansee and is planning to become a Certificate in Veterinary Assistant in the future.

Sam started in the veterinary industry in November of 2022 and joined our team in January of 2024.

She has two DSH cats named Moose and Bumbles, a German Shepherd named Malachi and a Bearded Dragon, Thorn.

Nicky

Nicky has been in the veterinary field since 1999 and she is no stranger to the Sugar Grove Animal Hospital.  She first joined our team in 2015 and despite life taking her away a couple of times, she always finds her way back home to us. 

Nicky is a giant dog breed lover and isn't complete without one in her life.  Her pet family includes Nova, a Mastiff, and two cats named Hazel and Odie Pie.

In her free time, Nicky enjoys hiking and taking as many vacations as she can with her husband and two sons.

Alyssa

Alyssa started her journey into veterinary medicine as a kennel tech and she found incredible joy working with animals.  This inspired Alyssa to further her skills and education resulting in her 2024 graduation as a Certified Veterinary Technician.  Alyssa joined our team in November of 2025.

In her free time Alyssa enjoys hanging out with her family and gardening during the summer months.

Megan

Megan graduated from WIU in 2007 with a Bachelor of Science in Zoology.  Her senior year externship at a local veterinary clinic got her interested in veterinary medicine.  Megan trained to be a veterinary technician at a general practice before moving into critical care.  

Megan took a hiatus to enjoy being a stay-at-home mom before returning to veterinary medi recently joined our team in October of 2025.  

She has two furry babies; a Boxer cross named Sharky and a Pit cross named Franklin. 

Megan loves to spend time with her husband and son.

Hannah

Hannah graduated NIU in 2025 with a Bachelors in Biology and she hopes to study veterinary medicine in 2026. 

Hannah started in this field in 2022 as a kennel and doggy day care attendant.  From there she moved  to veterinary assistant and vet tech.  Maybe Hannah will follow in Dr Jess Szopinski's footsteps by going from vet tech to vet med student to veterinarian with us.  We certainly hope so.  Hannah joined our team in December of 2026.

Hannah has two Pitbull siblings; Jade and Gia.  Her hobbies are baking, hiking, reading and painting.

Gina

Gina started working in kennels at 16 years old and then graduated to reception where she worked for 4 years.  Next Gina stepped into the medical side of the industry and she has worked as a veterinary technician for about 10 years.  Gina joined our team in December of 2025.

Gina has one dog, a Japanese Chin, 3 cats and a hamster.  

In her time off she enjoys spending time with her son, being outdoors, house plants and discovering new crafts and hobbies.
